Quality & Compliance
Our Commitment to Australian Food Safety Standards
Importing food into Australia is a regulated and responsibility-driven activity. We take our compliance obligations seriously — so our wholesale partners can stock our products with confidence.
FSANZ Food Standards Compliance
All food products we import and supply must meet the requirements of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (FSANZ). This includes:
- Mandatory English-language labeling on all products
- Ingredient list in descending order by weight
- Allergen declarations in the Australian format (gluten-containing cereals, milk, eggs, fish, crustaceans, molluscs, peanuts, sesame, soy, tree nuts, lupin, sulphites)
- Nutrition Information Panel (NIP) in the FSANZ format
- Country of origin marking ("Product of India" or similar)
- Date marking — best before or use by date as required
- Name and address of the Australian responsible supplier
- Additives and preservatives from the permitted list only
DAFF Biosecurity Compliance
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) regulates the biosecurity risk of all imported food products. Before importing any new product, we check the Biosecurity Import Conditions system (BICON) for the relevant HS code and comply with all entry conditions.
- BICON check completed for every new product HS code before first import
- Offshore treatment arranged where required (fumigation, heat treatment)
- Phytosanitary Certificates obtained from the National Plant Protection Organisation (NPPO) of the exporting country
- Import permits obtained from DAFF where required
- Full cooperation with DAFF inspections at the Australian border
Documentation & Traceability
We maintain a complete document trail for every shipment. This supports both our Australian customs compliance obligations and the product traceability requirements under the FSANZ Food Standards Code.
Supplier Certification Standards
We only source from suppliers who hold relevant food safety certifications. For our Indian food range, we require:
FSSAI
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India licence — mandatory for all Indian food manufacturers and exporters
Halal Certification
For products marketed to Halal consumers — certification from an accredited Halal body
Organic Certification
APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) certification for organic product claims
NPOP / USDA Organic
National Programme for Organic Production (India) or equivalent for export-certified organic products
